The Middle East Directions Programme focuses on conflict dynamics, political economy and socio-political, security and religious transformations in the Middle East. It has a strong Syria component (Wartime and Post-Conflict in Syria), including research activities, regular dialogue between researchers, policymakers and practitioners, and training a network of Syrian researchers.
The Research Associate will contribute to research and policy advice on select issues relevant to the Wartime and Post-Conflict in Syria project. S/he will coordinate with WPCS partners. S/he will liaise with donors, policymakers and will be in charge to organize regular dialogue with external stakeholders. S/he will also work in close collaboration with the Project Director and the project manager in coordinating and supervising the EUI Syrian team. The research will focus primarily on local governance, political economy and civic space in wartime and post-conflict environments, with a specific attention to conflict sensitivity analysis.
