On 29 September 2016, Mr Gilles De Kerchove – EU Counterterrorism Coordinator, gave a keynote speech to the Robert Schuman Centre, after which he recorded this interview.
The European Union is today under attack from jihadist terrorism, with a threat that comes from both outside and within its own borders. This phenomenon has led the Union to give more attention to the internal factors of risk, primarily the processes leading to violent radicalization, and to their interaction with the geopolitical scenario.
In his special lecture, Mr Gilles De Kerchove – EU Counterterrorism Coordinator will illustrate the current situation at European level, review the upcoming challenges and highlight the EU response in terms of prevention and detection.
