Abdolrasool (Farzam) Divsallar joined the Middle East Directions Programme of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies in 2019 where now he co-leads the Regional Security Initiative (RSI). He was a Policy Leader Fellow at the EUI School of Transnational Governance from September 2020 to January 2021. Dr. Divsallar is also an Adjunct Professor in Middle Eastern Studies at the Graduate School of Universita’ Cattolica (ASERI) in Milan.
Prior to joining the EUI, he was senior fellow at the Institute for the Middle East Strategic Studies (2017-2019), and Director of the National Resource and Development Program (2009-2015) in Tehran. Between 2005 and 2012 he worked as a researcher at both the Defense Industries Training and Research Institute and the Center for Strategic Studies of Expediency Council.
Divsallar holds a Ph.D. in political science from University of Tehran. He has worked extensively on Iranian politics and international security of Persian Gulf which has resulted in nine books and several papers in top international journals such as Washington Quarterly, British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, and the International Spectator. His most recent book Stepping Away from the Abyss: A Gradual Approach Towards a New Security System in the Persian Gulf (2021) co-edited with Luigi Narbone has published by European University Institute.
