MEDirections Summer School Instructor: Emadeddin Badi

 Emadeddin Badi is a 26 year old Libya-born activist and development practitioner. He currently works at the North Africa branch of UK-based INGO, Peaceful Change initiative, where he holds a dual role: leading on the conflict sensitivity of several stabilization projects in post-conflict afflicted areas as well as consulting on the alignment of community-led initiatives with the social peace and local development needs of different constituencies in Libya. Emad is also CEO of Project Silphium, a well-established youth-led civil society organization where he focuses on women and youth’s inclusion in peace and security.

Emad took part in several youth and leadership programs including the Consultation and High-Level dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security in the Arab Region, the Swedish Institute’s Young Leaders Visitors Program in Sweden and UNDP’s Governance Center’s Global Meeting on Preventing Violent Extremism in Norway. He is an intercultural leader and fellow with the United Nations Alliance Of Civilizations (UNAOC), with main pillars of expertise in the areas of migration, countering terrorism and conflict resolution.

Emad holds a Licentiate in French Language from the University of Tripoli, Libya and a Business Management BA from the University of Essex, UK. He has also been recently selected as CSLA scholar to study Violence, Conflict and Development at SOAS in September 2018.
