Vacancy notices for two Research Assistants at the EU-LISTCO project

The EUI has two vacancies for Research Assistant in the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, at the Europe’s External Action and the Dual Challenges of Limited Statehood and Contested Orders (EU-LISTCO) project.

Regarding the first job position (Reference number: V/RA/RSC/7/2018), the Research Assistant will conduct research on radicalization process in the MENA region, with a particular focus on Syria. The research will focus primarily on the social and political roots of radicalism among Sunni communities; the forms of radicalization and militarization of Sunni armed groups; the role of religious figures in the processes of radicalization and de-radicalization, but also in the resolution of local conflicts in war-torn countries. Regarding the second position (Reference number: V/RA/RSC/9/2018),the Research Assistant will conduct research on the political economy and economic governance in the MENA region, with a particular focus on war-torn (e.g. Syria and Libya) and neighbouring countries. The research will focus primarily on: the conflict- related fragmentation of economies and markets; smuggling and informal trade networks and their relationship with local militias and community governance in the absence of a functioning central government; forms of integration in neighbouring national economies by some local economies; border economic permeability and its impact on territorial control. S/he will produce scientific publications and reports, organise events, workshops and trainings, participate in project meetings and carry out fieldwork missions. Check out for more information HERE
