In April 2018, the team of the Menara project met in Budapest. They discussed the erosion of State capacities, the robustness of authoritarianism, the militarisation of contentious politics and the State and non-State actors that are shaping the future of the region.

Until now, 160 interviews have been conducted in countries such as Mali, Iraq and Libya.

During its final year, the Menara project will explain how the emerging regional order looks like and will analyze how major trends project into the future.
